MNRE Subsidy Guide 2026: How to Claim Your Rooftop Solar Subsidy
MNRE Subsidy Guide 2026
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy offers significant subsidies for residential rooftop solar installations. But claiming them requires proper documentation and process compliance.
Current Subsidy Rates
For residential installations up to 3 kW, the subsidy is Rs. 14,588 per kW. For 3-10 kW, it is Rs. 7,294 per kW for the capacity above 3 kW. This means a 3 kW system gets approximately Rs. 43,764 in subsidy.
Eligibility
Only residential consumers are eligible. The system must use DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) approved modules manufactured in India. The installer must be empanelled with your state’s nodal agency.
The Application Process
- Register on the PM-Surya Ghar portal
- Get technical feasibility approval from your DISCOM
- Install the system using an empanelled vendor
- Submit commissioning report and net meter installation proof
- Subsidy is credited directly to your bank account
Common Mistakes That Cost You the Subsidy
Using non-DCR panels, incorrect documentation, missing the application window, or installing through a non-empanelled vendor can all result in losing the subsidy entirely.
