5 Red Flags in a Solar Installation Quote
5 Red Flags in a Solar Installation Quote
Not all solar quotes are created equal. Here are five warning signs that the quote you received may not be as good as it looks.
1. No Brand Names for Components
If the quote says “Tier 1 panels” without specifying the exact brand and model, that is a red flag. Legitimate installers name their components.
2. Significantly Below Market Price
If one quote is 20-30% cheaper than others, the savings are coming from somewhere — usually component quality or installation shortcuts.
3. No Warranty Details
Every quote should specify panel warranty (25 years performance), inverter warranty (5-10 years), and workmanship warranty (minimum 5 years).
4. Vague System Design
A professional quote includes system size, number and model of panels, inverter specifications, and expected generation. Vague descriptions suggest a vague installation.
5. Pressure to Sign Immediately
“This price is only valid today” is a sales tactic, not a business constraint. Good installers give you time to evaluate.
